The governments of Lagos and Rivers states have expressed their readiness to begin the collection of Value Added Tax in accordance with the judgement of a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, which ruled that states, and not the Federal Inland Revenue Service, should be collecting VAT and Personal Income Tax.
Already, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, had signed into law the bill that empowers the state to collect VAT, while the Lagos State Government said it had already notified all the stakeholders involved in the payment and receipt of VAT of its resolve to enforce the judgement to the letter.

GOOD MORNING!

Brazil vs Argentina has been stopped because the Brazilian Federal Police have walked onto the pitch to detain 4 Argentinian players who lied to enter the country.
There’s a lot of bickering pitchside – not quite sure who is involved but whatever it is it has caused a stop in play.
Argentina and Brazil players run over to get involved in the bickering, apparently started by some members of the media who are allowed to be pitchside.
The Brazil players remain out on the pitch talking to the officials as this frankly bizarre issue gets sorted out.
It is amazing this game was allowed to start if there was a chance this could happen.
It seems like it could be Brazilian health officials who were not happy with the four Argentina players who had been in the UK prior to arrival being allowed to be involved in the match, instead of isolating.
And then the Argentina players headed back down the tunnel.

The development came after residents heard about two hours of heavy gunfire across the capital Conakry.
Guinea soldiers on Sunday said they have taken control of the government and suspended the Constitution.
Colonel Mamady Doumbouya of the Guinea military said in a video recorded in the capital Conakry that the National Assembly has been dissolved.
A video has also circulated on social media showing President Alpha Conde being held by soldiers. He was subsequently shoved into a vehicle and driven away.
The development came after residents heard about two hours of heavy gunfire across the capital.
Mr Doumbouya said all land and air routes have been shut in the interim, asking citizens to remain at home and await further instruction on the direction of the government.
Mr Doumbouya also lamented widespread corruption and poverty as key reasons for the takeover, saying Mr Conde had failed to deliver on his promises to Guinea people.
Mr Conde 83, won a third term of office last October. Continental body AU has yet to release a statement about the development.

Igboho explained that Benin Republic enjoys more stable electricity than Nigeria, hence the need to actualize Yoruba nation.
The self-acclaimed freedom fighter disclosed this in a message made public by his spokesman, Olayomi Koiki.
Koiki said Igboho believes soon Nigeria would no longer exist as Yoruba nation would be actualized.
In a statement, Koiki said: “I received a message from Chief Sunday Adeyemo, aka Igboho via his lawyer from Benin Republic, Olusegun Falola that he stands on his belief, self-determination for the Yoruba Nation, because there’s nothing like Nigeria again for him.
“He believes as a Yoruba man and the indigenous person of the land that it’s time for Yorubas to stand on their own as a Nation.
“He said we should take a look at Benin Republic enjoying steady electricity supply. That’s what we desire in the Yoruba Nation we have been agitating for and we will get there very soon. He also reiterated that the Yoruba Nation is now; there is no going back.”

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has said the parade of politicians who have been visiting the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu in London should serve as a warning to Nigerians ahead of the 2023 elections.
He said, “The way people are trooping to London to take photos with Bola Tinubu is a warning to Nigerians that if we repeat the mistake of 2015, and vote Tinubu in as President in 2023, we will have another UK based President.
“The fact that we are even considering a man who has been away for three months for an ailment that we do not know, and are very unlikely to know, is a sign that we have not suffered enough.”
