The Rocket Science _ Written By Martins Jesuloni P.
REVOLUTION CLASS 003
TOPIC: THE ROCKET SCIENCE.
Rocket Science is a “slang” used for something way difficult to understand, or say something meant for some selected few. Can you give lists of things that you can call “rocket science”??? Alright, I have one right here. It’s called Government!!!, sincerely, I do not think I know of any rocket science beyond “government”. I know you are wondering why I’d call government, a rocket science right??? We’re almost there
To a common man, government is a rocket science. He doesn’t know what it is that is being said, to him, it’s not a course for him to understand. Infact, even many literate, do not know what government is all about. To them, they are not into politics, so why should they know it. They are doctors, but do not care to know why the wages must increase, infact, they do not bother to know who determine the wages and what basis they do. It’s not their thing, it’s for them… The them, the few, who is doing it… And maybe, who should be doing it!!!…
The lackadaisical attitude towards governance has led us here. The fact that we have put in their hands is eating us deep already. To most people, those in governance are good will men and women who are catering for “them”, the less privilege. Each time they are lucky to receive 2% of their dividends as a citizen, they’ll be like a poor man who receives a token from a passerby. To them, those in government are some kind of superman.. Many youths, educated ones, sometimes share this ignorance too. It interests them to follow up and discuss on entertainment and sports, but not government, why??? Because it’s a rocket science.. Because those that are doing it, are doing it…
A country where government is made into a rocket science would suffer the same lot as Nigeria. A country where the least minority dictates, control, and make policy for clueless majority is bound to lead the poverty chart!!!.
While, it might not interest you to contest as an individual, it should necessarily interest you to understand how, who, and why you are being governed. Until, we stop considering “government” as a rocket science, or as a thing meant to be done by some people over some people, then we would still be right here…
When your street electricity is down for months, what comes to your mind??? Aren’t you waiting for those who should do it, to go and do it??? When the small road gets so bad in your street, what did you say??? Didn’t you say “won’t this people come and do this thing”.. The question, who are those people you are waiting for to come and do it. Why can’t you join them in doing it???..
We must come to the understanding that we won’t survive it if we leave what pertains to us, affects us, in the hands of some people. No, it should be in our hands.
For a revolution to happen, we must first know that government is not a rocket science, it’s not a thing for the adult alone or those who studied political science. You and I must take it in our hands…
Assignment look around your environment, check for any social work you can do. It might be ensuring the surrounding is clean, it might be filling the little pot holes on the road, what else, just look around, I’m sure there would be a work waiting for you… Don’t go and be clearing someone else farm oooo… Ehehenn

The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Lagos State has said that the senior secondary school pupils will resume on Monday, August 3, 2020. While speaking at a press briefing on Friday, July 25, 2020, Amusa Olawale, the president of the association, Lagos State chapter, said there was a plan to conduct the West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination in September. “ In the last meeting the South-West governors had with the commissioners for education, they are still working on how WASSCE would be conducted in September, because if these pupils don’t sit the exam, the 2020/2021 session will be seriously affected” , he said. Olawale explained that the Lagos State Ministry of Education had permitted them to resume so far necessary requirements were met. He said, “We had a meeting with the Director General, Quality Assurance, Lagos State Ministry of Education and we shall be resuming on August 3. We have been given clearance for reopening of schools but if a school does not have the requirements, they may not be allowed to resume. NYSC reacts to video of ex-corps member humiliated by policemen
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Oyo State said its attention has been drawn to a viral video of a female ex-corps member arrested by security operatives at the resident of a suspected armed robber/kidnapper in Ibadan. The viral video showed how some policemen arrested and dehumanized an ex-corps member, identified as Towobola. Towobola was also questioned about her sex and private life. However, Oyo state NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Grace Ogbuogebe said the video, which had attracted strong indignation from the public, showed that the action of the law enforcement agents was unacceptable. “It was quite unfortunate for her to have been turned to a victim of circumstances and an object of ridicule despite the fact that she was not found in any crime scene, neither was anything incriminating discovered on her,” she said. Ogbuogebe said the manner the operatives were interrogating Towobola about her private life in public glare was unprofessional and suggested a sinister motive. She called on the Oyo State Police Command to ensure that appropriate disciplinary actions were taken against the operatives to serve as a deterrent to others who might want to exhibit such a tendency. According to her, Towobola, who recently passed out of national service, had been released after NYSC’s intervention. Also, the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr Seun Fakorede, who is the Chairman, NYSC Governing Board in the state, also condemned the act. Fakorede called for a thorough investigation into the matter, by the police, to ensure justice. “It could, therefore, be concluded that these officers deliberately humiliated this lady for a reason best known to them. “This action is unprofessional and capable of bringing the police into disrepute.”
Police Arrest Four Personnel Involved In Harassment Of Lady In Viral Video
The Nigeria Police Force said it had arrested all four of its officers involved in the harassment and molestation of a lady found at a scene of an arrest. Some officials of the force had gone from Lagos to Ibadan, Oyo State, to arrest a suspected criminal when a lady identified as Towobola was met at the scene. The officers harassed her by asking her vulgar and sensual questions. The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, condemned the act of the officers and ordered a discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding the dehumanising treatment of the lady. The police said following an investigation, three of its officers and one civilian accomplice, who participated in the unprofessional act, were identified, while two had been arrested. In an update on the case today (Friday), the police said the other two persons involved had been arrested. “The Nigeria Police have arrested the remaining two persons involved in the dehumanizing treatment of a female citizen in a viral video making the rounds since Wednesday, 22nd July, 2020, bringing the total number of persons now in police custody to four. “The two additional persons arrested are CPL Aiyedun Akeem and one Ope Owoeye — the civilian accomplice popularly known as ‘Wyclef’. Recall that ASP Tijani Olatunji and Inspr Gboyega were earlier arrested for their involvement in the case,” the police disclosed via its official Twitter handle. The police said investigation was still ongoing after which the internal disciplinary procedures will commence for the officers. The police also stated that police detectives from the State CID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos, have established contact with the victim with assurances that justice will be done.
Lai Mohammed Reportedly Asks NBC To Shutdown Big Brother Naija Show
Lai Mohammed to shutdown the BBNaija show due to possible spread of COVID-19 among inmates. The Minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed has reportedly asked the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to stop airing Big Brother Naija (BBNaija). According to TheCable, the acting director-general of the NBC, Armstrong Idachaba, told senior management members that he had been directed by Lai Mohammed to shut down the BBNaija show due to possible spread of COVID-19 among inmates. The minister had reportedly sent a letter to NBC on July 1, 2020 before the BBNaija show began. His move to shut down the show is believed to be because of the general opinion that he is bent on sending MultiChoice Ltd, producers of the show, out of Nigeria. Mohammed is believed to have launched political moves against MultiChoice in order to pave the way for his main consultant to make a return to Pay TV after previously failing. However, insiders told TheCable that the NBC management was not well disposed to the move to shut down BBNaija, with some of them saying there was no basis for it. A director is said to have reminded the meeting that NBC had already sought explanation from Multichoice on a possible violation of COVID-19 protocols with the airing of the show. MultiChoice replied with detailed explanations on measures taken in collaboration with the Lagos state government, whose agency, Lagos State Safety Commission, gave the green light for the show. Also, MultiChoice said in the letter that housemates had been screened prior to the show and that the BBN House had been decontaminated and adapted to ensure sufficient physical distancing, in addition to eliminating the use of live audience. All inmates went through a mandatory two-week isolation during which COVID-19 symptoms would have manifested if they had the disease. A second director is said to have told the meeting that participants of the show had maintained the safety protocols, notably generous use of hand sanitisers, since it started on Sunday. Idachaba, who is reportedly fighting to be confirmed as the substantive DG, was asked to request the minister for a written directive. However, the acting DG was said to have told the meeting that he would have no other option than to carry out Mohammed’s order — the same way he altered the broadcast code to please the minister despite public outcry. Idachaba, in his response to TheCable, simply said BBN will not be taken off air but did not provide any further information. KanyiDaily had reported that the BBNaija show entered its fifth season on July 20, 2020, with 20 participants battling for the grand prize of N85M worth of gifts in the next 70 days (10 Weeks).
