Two men arrested for filming a teenage girl while raping her in Anambra
The police in Anambra state have arrested two men for allegedly filming a 12-year old girl while one of them raped her in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the State.
The spokesperson of the state police command, Haruna Mohammed, who disclosed this in a statement released on Friday June 19, said one of the suspects, Sunday Akanigbo (30) reportedly raped the victim, while his accomplice, Ikemefuna Muoma (28), was said to be filming the dastardly act.
Haruna said both men have confessed to the crime and would be charged to court soon.

THE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE CP JOHN B. ABANG, FDC HAS DIRECTED THAT THE CASE BE TRANSFERRED TO THE STATE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION DEPARTMENT, AWKA FOR DISCREET INVESTIGATION AFTER WHICH SUSPECTS WOULD BE CHARGED TO COURT FOR PROSECUTION.”
Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun has suspended the planned reopening of Churches and Mosques . The governor also warned that anyone found operating viewing centre would be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.

Covid19: ECOWAS take a step to gradual reopening of regional borders
This recommendation was made known in a joint communiqué following a ministerial coordination meeting, on Thursday in Abuja, by the Directorate of communications, ECOWAS Commission. The Committee recommended gradual reopening of the borders especially for the movement of humanitarian personnel, medical supplies and equipment, and essential goods in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. They also held that the reopening had become imperative in view of the need to revive the economies of ECOWAS member countries. It said recommendations were adopted for submission to the Co-Chairpersons of the ad-hoc Ministerial Committee, and Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, and President of the ECOWAS Commission, Jean-Claude Brou. The Aviation Minister and ECOWAS Commission’s President were expected to submit the recommendations to President Muhammadu Buhari who is champion of the regional COVID-19 response. President Buhari would present the documents to the Summit of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government. “The ministers discussed and agreed on practical modalities based on the report of the regional experts meeting held virtually on June 8 and 10, 2020. “As well as the draft Guidelines for the Harmonisation and Facilitation of Cross Border Trade and Transport in the ECOWAS Region on The COVID-19 Pandemic and Related Post-Recovery Actions. “The opening of the borders is to be hinged on the proposed guidelines for the mitigation of health risks and the harmonization and facilitation of cross-border trade. “And transport in the ECOWAS region in the context of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, amounting to a coordinated and progressive opening of air, land and maritime borders. “The ministers recommended a three-phased approach to the opening of land and air borders, beginning with local internal domestic air and land transport within ECOWAS member states. “Then a second phase which involves the opening of land and air borders between ECOWAS member states, to allow the free movement of goods and persons. “On the basis of strict application of the proposed guidelines for the harmonisation and facilitation of cross-border trade and transport in the ECOWAS region. “Following a review of the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic in respective member states, a third phase of opening air and land borders to other countries with controlled levels (according to WHO classifications) will be pursued,” the committee said. The ministers further called for accurate information sharing on opening-up measures among member states in the spirit of solidarity, collective self-reliance and inter-State co-operation through bilateral and multilateral consultations. They also called for the need to ensure speedy and safer clearance of transit goods at the borders and minimise physical contact in customs, cross-border trade transactions. They said that this would be achieved through the rapid deployment of the new ECOWAS Interconnected Goods and Transit Management System popularly termed SIGMAT. They also urged the provision of such information to private sector actors namely, shipping lines, Airlines, cross-border transporters and traders, media, and civil society while ensuring strong collaboration at borders. The ministerial coordinating committee pleaded for strong and determined support for the ownership and implementation of the guidelines” once adopted by the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government. It stated that apart from ministers from member states, the meeting was also attended by ECOWAS Commission’s Commissioner for Infrastructure, Mr Pathé Gueye, and his counterpart for Trade, Customs, and Free Movement, Mr. Konzi Tei. Others are Prof. Stanley Okolo, Director-General, West African Health Organization (WAHO), and Mr. Paul Koffi, Commissioner, Community Spatial Planning and Transport at the Commission of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU).
There is anxiety over the state of health of former Governor of Oyo State, Mr Abiola Ajimobi, who is reportedly battling to stay alive at a private health facility in Lagos. It has been reported that the former federal lawmaker is bedridden at a hospital in Lagos. He is reportedly infected with the dreadful coronavirus disease (COVID-19). According to report, he slipped into coma and has been placed on ventilator because of his alleged inability to breathe very well. On Thursday night, news filtered in that he was dead, but one of his media aides, Mr Bolaji Tunji, has insisted that the former Governor is still alive. Also, a daughter of a former Governor of Oyo State, Ms Kemi Olunloyo, claimed she spoke with a family member, who confirmed to her that Mr Ajimobi is still alive. “I was inundated by messages that fmr Governor @AAAjimobi has DIED in Lagos! I could not get info from Oyo lawmakers, elites, media. I have finally confirmed and spoke to the family 9:15pm 6/18/20. He is ALIVE and talking recovering,” she said. Before her post on Thursday night, some prominent media personalities had claimed that Mr Ajimobi had died from COVID-19. The former Governor was recently appointed as the acting Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) despite being bedridden.
NANS Zone A Demand Release of Katsina Student Leaders During Protest
In a statement by Zakari Hashim, Coordinator of NANS Zone A, the group condemned the harassment of peaceful protesters, calling for the police to do the right thing. The statement reads, “It has become pertinent to make this release, sequel to the arrest of some Katsina State student leaders by Nigeria Police Force, Katsina State Command. At least 20 students were arrested and taken away by the police. “The students leaders, who were out to protest against the incessant killings going in the state, were arrested a day after the arrest of Nastur Ashir Sheriff, Chairman Board of Trustees, Coalition of Northern Groups. “Among the arrested student leaders is Abu Bature Dandume, Assistant Secretary-General of NANS zone A. “It is laughable that the security agency that don’t know the whereabout of Adamu Alero and his co-bandits has the guts to arrest peaceful protesters in an attempt to silence dissenting voices. “We give the NPF Katsina State Command 24 hours to release our students or face mass exodus of Nigerian students into the state.”

A four year old girl identified simply as Azizat, has been swept away by flood at Agege area of Lagos State. Purpleworld gathered that Azizat whose parents live at 38, Fashola Street, Papa Ashafa, in Orile Agege was swept away by the flood on Wednesday. It was gathered that she missed her steps, fell into a drainage and was swept away.
The Public Relations Officer of the National Emergency Management Agency in the South-West, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the incident to our correspondent. He said, ” NEMA and LASEMA have put resources together in recovery operations as soon as distressed alert was received but the body of the girl has not been found. “we are calling on the people in these areas with credible information on the recovery of the body to call the attention of emergency/security agency in their area if they notice body.”

Two Children Lost Their Lives As Building Collapses In Lagos
Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed that the building collapsed due to mudslide resulting from a downpour. “The agents were informed that two children, one male and one female, were trapped and immediately commenced a search and rescue operation. “Unfortunately, they were found dead and their remains transported to the mortuary.” Other occupants of the house were reportedly injured as a result of the collapse. Yet to be identified children lost their lives after being trapped beneath the rubble of a storey building, which collapsed in the Gafari Balogun area of Ogudu, Lagos State. He stated that the victims were children, adding that their corpses had been recovered. He said, “On arrival at the scene by agency responders, it was observed that a building collapsed as a result of a mudslide at the rear of the building caused by heavy rainfall.
